Visiting Ireland from abroad?
If you've arrived in Ireland and need medication, our pharmacists can advise on what's available over the counter here. Some medications available without prescription in other countries require one in Ireland, and vice versa.
If you have a non-EU prescription, we may be able to assist depending on the medication. If a new prescription is required, we can provide guidance on how to go about getting such.
We provide receipts which may be reimbursable against healthcare plans. Any other questions, don't hesitate to call us on 065 7074104 or walk in.
VISITING IRELAND FROM USA
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you fill my US Prescription?
While Irish pharmacy regulations mean we cannot dispense directly from a US prescription, there is plenty we can do to help.
It may be the case that a prescription is not required. If one is required, we can advise as to what steps to take to minimise disruption to your trip. Our pharmacists Michelle or Claire will do their best to find a solution — whether that's arranging an emergency supply or identifying an equivalent medication available in Ireland. We're used to helping visitors in exactly this situation, so please don't hesitate to come in and talk to us. If you are attending in person, do bring your prescription or medication packaging if you have them with you - this will help us identify exactly what you need.
Can I bring Irish medications back to the USA?
In most cases, absolutely yes — you are free to bring medications purchased here back to the US for personal use in reasonable quantities. We will always provide you with a full receipt and product information leaflet for anything you purchase, which is good practice to have with you when travelling. For a very limited number of medications which are classified differently under US law, a little paperwork can make the journey home smoother — US Customs and Border Protection (cbp.gov) has a straightforward guide worth a quick check before you travel.
What if I've lost my medication or luggage?
This happens more than you might think! Come in and speak to us — we will do everything we can to help. In some cases we can provide an emergency supply of essential medications. We can also guide you on how to obtain a new prescription if needed.
Do you accept US travel insurance?
We can provide an itemised receipt for any medications purchased which you can submit to your travel insurer for reimbursement. We recommend keeping all packaging and documentation.
